All mirrors are fitted with safety glass and the template for the glass is integrated into the product to enable replacment in case of mishaps.
The mirrors are finished with linseed oil which allows the wood to continue to build up a patina over time with polishing or re-oiling.
About Spalting.
Irregular dark lines on the wood surface are caused by indivdual wood inhabiting fungi forming sharp boundary zones to separate themselves from other decay organisms of the same or different species. If arrested in the early stages of decay these zones are a decorative feature.
About First Cut Yew.
This is the first cut taken when the tree is being planked at the sawmill it incorporates the shape of the exterior of the tree on the face of the mirror giving an extra dimension of depth to the mirror.
About Oak Whisky Staves Mirrors.
Made using reclaimed Oak whisky barrel staves to create unusal mirrors some of which incorporate the bung hole and some which do not.
