All mirrors are fitted with safety glass and the template for the glass is integrated into the product to enable replacment in case of mishaps.
The mirrors are finished with linseed oil which allows the wood to continue to build up a patina over time with polishing or re-oiling.
About Spalting.
Irregular dark lines on the wood surface are caused by indivdual wood inhabiting fungi forming sharp boundary zones to separate themselves from other decay organisms of the same or different species. If arrested in the early stages of decay these zones are a decorative feature.
About Oak Whisky Staves Mirrors.
Made using reclaimed Oak whisky barrel staves to create unusal mirrors some of which incorporate the bung hole and some which do not.
These Fusion glass pebbles are a collaberaiton with Urdale glass in Yorkshire who specialise in blown glass.
The pebbles are produced from breakages during blowing so each piece is uniqe in colour and shape.
Pebbles are inlaid into the mirror to add another dimension to the mirror whist complementing the individuality of each mirror.
A fusion glass pebble can be added to any mirror on request at an additional cost of £20
